about

This self-released recording marks trumpeter/composer Darren Johnston's first as a leader, going all the way back to 2003.

"The UBF sound is eclectic - it’s members are equally at home performing Bach chorales, Angolan protest songs, avant-rock, afro-beat, brass band music from the Balkans, New Orleans “second line”, be-bop or free jazz. A “typical” UBF show is a celebration of contrasts."
